Bright Is Not Always Better: A Pictorial Review of Hyperechoic Malignant Breast Masses

Abstract Hyperechogenic breast lesions are a relatively rare finding at ultrasonography and traditionally thought to be benign. However, hyperechogenicity on the ultrasound alone does not provide enough evidence rule out malignancy completely. We herein reported short series of nine cases echogenic malignant lesions, which include invasive ductal carcinoma, carcinoma in situ, lobular angiosarcoma, lymphoma, metastasis breast. Echogenic should carefully evaluated properly categorized based any other suspicious sonographic characteristics must correlated with mammographic findings clinical history lower threshold for biopsy avoid delay diagnosis. Hyperechogenicity considered as characteristically benign feature supersede less specifically features same lesion examination.
